standard height versus double height air mattress

We own several Coleman standard height air mattresses...and love them. However, we are starting to camp now for longer periods at a time and I'm thinking of upgrading to a double height air mattress. Can you guys give me some comparisons... is it really worth the extra cost? Can you really tell a difference in comfort between the two heights (except for just getting up from them). What about warming the air mattresses... is it twice more difficult to warm up the higher one?
Thanks a lot!!

We use the aero beds that we bought at Walmart. They are not meant for camping but they have worked out great. I place two sleeping bags on top for more warmth and then a sheet set. Since we use campsites that have electricity it is no problem. I know that Coleman has one that you can use battery's...

I dont recommend that you buy a double air mattress. I dont really see the difference. The comfort is still bad. I just recommend more bedding materials to lay on.

Unless you're sleeping in a heated enclosure DO NOT use air mattresses or cots. If you do, keep in mind that due to the way heat transfers you are sleeping on a heat sink. At best you lose a better nights sleep due to the heat loss, and at worst you can develop hypothermia, and most cases occur at between 30 and 50-degrees F. Use a self-inflating sleeping pad instead unless you camp in the heat of summer. Brands like ThermaRest or knockoffs are a far better choice for health and safety and are available in a variety of thicknesses from backpacking thin to crazy thick.
