Hello!  I live in the North Georgia Mountains (apple country).  I have been a camper all of my life.  Due to the HIGH cost of gas, we are keeping our travel trailer parked this summer and have purchased a tent instead.  We love camping too much to give it up so I am going to make the sacrifice of all my modern convinences (especially the bathroom) and travel the road in a mini-van with my husband, 2 teenage daughters, 1 dog and 1 kitten.  We are planning a loooong road trip to Maine and Nova Scotia for about 3-4 weeks.  We'll see how it goes.  If anyone has suggestions for tent/car camping for this long, I would love to hear from you!  We're thinking about a porta-potty for nights.  Anyone tried it before?Huh

Cynthia,

Welcome, glad to see the high prices are not keeping you at home.

We have a pop up that does not have a bathroom and use a porta pottie.  It works out really well especially at night with kids.

Welcome to the fold!  It'll be a different experience for sure!  I would definitely suggest having two tents - one for you and DH, and one for the youngsters - less stress on you that way.   Cool
