New to this board and wanted to share this with any of you who are into camping and cooking.  wanted a rotisserie that was fully adjustable, simple to use, and required no motor. After searching endlessly, I found nothing, so I drew up some plans, had a friend manufacture it and tried it out. The spit is turned by hand a quarter turn at a time and depending on the fire, height, food, etc, frequency is up to the user. At this point I am looking for input, ideas, suggestion, etc.

The photos are of it's maiden "spin", and the roast was GREAT!!!.  Great for sitting by an open fire with a beer and friends and time to enjoy. And as I said the pork roast was fantastic over an open fire!

Very nice.  I like how simple it is, sit around having a beer and give it the occasional turn.

garmp,

Thanks for posting this as I am always looking for ways to improve my cooking.  I must confess that I normally do not use a rotisserie while camping.  The closest I have come to this is bannock.  However, now that you have brought it up, it seems like it would be a great way to cook a whole chicken.  One question for you: Do you tend to cook it with a good fire going or do you try to cook with just the coals?  I am curious because I would think the open flame would burn the meat.

Best,
Jeff Marshall
