I have been camping many times before but I am thinking of planning my first primitive/rustic camping trip.  I am thinking of going for between 7-10 days.  Can you let me know what necessities you bring for safety/comfort?  Also, do you bring any luxury items with you to connect to the outside world?  If yes, how do you power your devices?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info.  Thats really helps.  I am also thinking of bringing an ipod with me.  Just wondering does anyone bring any type of back up power source they bring in case of emergency for cell phone/gps/ipod/radio?

Make sure to bring extra batteries. For your iPod and phone, they make external batteries that you plug into them when you need extra power. You can find them at Best Buy. I would just make sure you turn off your phone and anything else you aren't using at a particular moment. I just turn on my phone once a day to check my voicemails. Hope that helps.
