My wife and I are originally form Wisconsin, but live in Southern California now.  Let me say, camping out here is a world of difference from camping in Wisconsin.  You are hard pressed to find a place to camp that has trees and water in the same location.  The ONE thing I REALLY like about camping in Southern California compared to Wisconsin is the LACK OF MOSQUITOS!  That is the best thing in the world.

Welcome. I'd rather deal with skeeters than chiggers, but we got them both down here along with a
few other types of bloodsuckers.

A swarm of Deerflies can make a mess out of a hiker.
