has anyone tried these berkey water purifiers like the ones found on shaneshop.net? They look to be great even for cleaning city water at camp grounds and at home. They have the berkey sport bottle for hiking and one called the aquastar that uses UV light to kill microbes.

Can't say that I have tried the Berkey ones.  I think I might give them a go.  Thanks!

I can recommend the Katadyn water filtration line though.  The Pro Hiker is fantastic for the serious backpacker since it is so light weight.

I have two Katadyn water filters. I'm looking to buy one of the UV sterilizers. I 'm looking at getting a Steripen, I'll check out the one you mentioned. I just wonder how much water they will clean compared to the filter type.

I sell Katadyn water filters and find them to be the best.  As mentioned the Hiker Pro is a great filter.  Alot of bang for the buck.
