There are a number of 12V appliances like car fridge, cooler, dvd and a lot more that are widely used while camping. These appliances can make camping even more enjoyable. Most of these 12V appliances use the car cigarette lighter to get power. There are a several accessories like 10feet extension cord and socket multiplier that are used to provide power to these accessories from the car while these are kept inside the camp.

I'm alittle nervous about running down my battery when I'm out in the woods. The only thing I use thats 12v is a portable DVD player. Sometimes it's nice to watch a movie when camping at night.

It totally agree with RJD.  A 12V refrigerator drains a huge amount of power and should only be considered for use while driving or for an afternoon picnic.  I carry a house battery (12V OPTIMA) for camping and would never consider using my 12V refrigerator in camp.  That's what ice is for!  Tongue

I found a line of battery-operated fans at WallyMart that I like.  The larger uses eight "D" cells, but also has a power adapter to convert 120VAC to 12VDC.  I have a  12VDC auto plug that will plug into it too.  But the D-cells power it for about 48 hours total - enough for overnight tent use during a weekend camping trip.  I'll try it up in the gear loft to draw warm air out of the tent.
The smaller unit uses two D-cells, and runs 50 hours (low) on one set.  I am thinking of adding a solar charger and spare rechargable batteries, and it'll be a good field fan.  It has an optional (must be ordered) AC adapter too, but is 3VDC.
Once I get the Scamp trailer I am trading for, I will be looking at upgrading it's appliances, and adding a second deep cycle battery for extended camping use.  A 12VDC coffee maker will be mandatory!  The new LED lighting will reduce power usage too.
I'll likely just use an ice cooler rather than a mini-fridge - prices are outrageous for even a tiny one!
