I have been looking for a good way to build a lantern stand. I have seen the coleman lantern stands, and a few by other companies, but they are like 25 bucks. I know I can build something that will hold a lantern five feet off the ground for way less than that. I could use some suggestions on possible materials, tools needed, etc.

Have you seen The Limbhook, just get a piece of PVC pipe, tap it in the ground and strap it to it! Or strap it to a small tree, check it out www.mejiaoutdoors.com

I took a look at it and it looks like a useful tool, however, where I am going there aren't any low hanging branches. I could buy it and some pvc piping and use that.
