How do you keep your campsite safe at night?
Is there a ready made campsite alarm system product on the market today? I couldnt find one
There are many predators but human children seem to be the biggest threat to our security at our site in Havelock Ontario. While we have been disturbed by animals and some will make a mess, its the (local?) human children always seem to cause the most damage and steal the most stuff from our campground every year.
So this picture shows a rig we build to protect our beeyards here in Canada. Its a motion detector connected to lights and a battery powered radio - the motion detector has a
reed switch and its just a matter of adding two functions to the circuit or more circuits (one for the lights, and one for the radio) and this non lethal deterrent scares any would be night crawlers , but unfortunately it would also wakes up the entire camp and that would happen frequently (like car alarms arrrgh) the motion detector was set improperly or went blinky in some way
We power the lights and detector with a rig similar to this, portable yet powerful, the radio is battery operated
Again this is for our beeyards and we are expanding with these but I'm seriously considering making a rig for our campsite which make me wonder if the camping industry has anything like this already?
Is there something way handier than all this... like maybe a sleeping dog? What do you use? If its a dog please show.
