Then i'll just have to hope that no bears want to climb up and meet me.
I've never had problems getting the rig into camping grounds. Granted, we tend to go camping in places that allow cars. I do understand the concern about wanting to take your car to get supplies, ect. You would have to dismantle the tent (that does only take like 3 min.) or take two cars if you are traveling with more people.
Looking for a brand was an complicated experience due to the limited knowledge and use that there seems to be of rtts in the US. Ultimately, we went with Tepui Tents because they had a good product that fit our needs, they're a CA company and the owner is very accessible all over the web, which meant that we knew there would be help available if we needed any.
It's a quality Chinese-made tent, it simply would limit many users and keep them out of many campsites or force them to stay out on the dustier roadside parking slots, much the same as tents that attach to the back of SUVs or some hatchbacks. My comments are not to bash, but only to note that a ground-placed tent offers more flexibility, and there's little added safety in being up higher. If money was no object, there are certainly dry-camping situations where I think this tent would be great, particularly for the scenic advantage of raised visibility.
